Comparing Similarities and Differences
In this activity, a great deal of discussion could be promoted looking at similarities and differences between and African village in Chad and a small Alaskan village.
Using a worksheet similar to this one, students could look for similarities and differences between the two villages in such seemingly different parts of the world.
NOTE: In the book Instructional Strategies that Work, Marzano, Pickering and Pollock demonstrate the effectiveness of identifying similarities and differences as an instructional strategy. In 31 studies it produced an average percentile gain of 45%. |
